How to Overcome Menopause

A Message from Noelyne...

It has always been my intention to go through the menopause naturally without hormone replacement treatment or therapy.  I hadn't really put much thought into it as I just expected to be able to get through the menopause naturally without any form of treatment.  I didn't really know when it would happen so of course when the time came I didn't recognise the signs.

I wasn't expecting it and I had been naive enough to think that I wouldn't need any help.  So I was shocked when I realised that I wasn't coping terribly well with life and that it was actually due to the menopause. The realtionship with my partner broke down and I could do nothing to stop it.  I had been moody, irritable, lacking in energy, head pains and then aching joints.  In hindsight this was all so out of character that I am amazed that I didn't realise that there was something happening.  The problem is that it's so gradual.

When I look back now I realise that the first signs were when I started to have very short menstrual cycles of 17 days and less for a few months.  I had put it down to stress at the time as I was particularly busy with my business.  Then I went for a while with longer gaps of 30+ days and eventually I went 6 months without a period.

It was at this stage that I had my first hot flush.  Yet I still didn't realise that I was also having mood swings and feeling irritable.  Then I had a number of bad headaches and seem to become intolerant to alcohol.  Even one glass would cause a bad headache.  My partner and I were growing further and further apart at this stage and anything I did to regain the relationship just made matters worse.  About 18 months after the very first signs I realised that I was exhausted and that my joints were aching and that I needed help.

I am totally against HRT so going to the GP was not an option that I was prepared to take.  I was introduced to a local business woman at a networking event and she introduced my to Forever Living Products, the aloe vera company.  I went straight onto the Standard Aloe Vera drinking gel and within 3 weeks my energy levels were back up.  I started taking Artic Sea, Omega 3 fish oils and my joints stopped aching within 6 weeks.  I then started taking additional supplements to see what effect it would have on the other symptoms of Hot Flushes and mood swings.

I started with Gin Chia which is recommended as an anti-depressant and mood enhancer and also good for menopausal symptoms.  I took it for a while but wasn't convinced so went onto A Bet CarE, which is rich in vitamins A(Beta carotene), E and selenium.  This really gave me a boost and I started to feel great.

Then occasionally I found myself feeling low again and as soon as I did I took a Gin Chia, which helped to pick up my mood.

I was still getting hot flushes so did some research and found that the Peruvian herb Maca is great for managing hot flushes and is n fact a natural HRT.  You can imagine my delight when I realised that Forever do a supplement with this wonderful herb in it - Multi Maca.  I now feel fantastic, the hot flushes have virtually disappeared and what's more my libido has returned...yes maca is also known as the sex herb :)

It's now 16 months since my last menstrual cycle and I feel fantastic! High energy, positive again and loving life.  Most importantly I am now seeing my partner again.  He and the boys are back in my life although he did move back to his own house, so it's early days with that.

For the first 48 years of my life I did not take supplements of any kind preferring to get my nutrition from the food I eat.  I realised that this just was not enough for the menopause.  I now take the following products:
  • 60 mls Aloe Vera Gel Drink every morning
  • 1 Arctic Sea capsule daily
  • 1 Multi Maca daily
  • 1 Gin Chia as and when I notice a dip in my mood
  • A BetaCarE occasionally
My mission now is to help you or anyone you know to overcome menopause naturally.  You can do it!
