Need more sleep?

A Message from Noelyne...
There is only one thing people like that is good for them; a good night's sleep”
    Edgar Watson Howe

The following are recommended amounts of sleep:
  • One years olds - 13 to 14 hours
  • 5 to 15 year olds - 9 to 10 hours
  • Adolescents - 10 hours
  • Adults - 8 hours, although this may vary from 4-6 or 9-10.
What can cause insomnia?

Anxiety / excessive stress
Respiratory problems
Pain
Caffeinated drinks
Food / alcohol over – indulgence
Lack of exercise
Worrying about not sleeping
Just to remind you of the following best practice:
Regularity
same time every day

Routines
Traditional hot drinks or a bath before bed are all helpful.  Other relaxing activities such as listening to music, or doing yoga for up to one hour before bed are helpful

Restful bedroom
A dark, cool, non-humid, quiet room is ideal.  Daytime activities should be undertaken in another room

The Right bed
This means buying the right bed in the first place and checking that your existing bed is still in good condition, with the right bedclothes

Here's another 3 tips:
  • When you get into bed relax your whole body starting from the tip of your toes working your way up
  • Then tell yourself that you are going to have a deep and restful sleep and wake up bright and refreshed in the morning, put all concerns about tomorrow out of your head.
  • If you wake up in the night with your mind in overdrive, write down everything that you are thinking of, then go back to sleep.
Have a good nights sleep,

Noelyne Jones
